ESPRIT 2008 has added major enhancements to the automation capabilities in ESPRIT as well as many enhancements for milling, turning and wire EDM operations.

The Top Ten list for ESPRIT 2008 spans a broad range of machining functionality for milling, turning and wire EDM, plus the introduction of Feature Groups that let you select multiple features for machining.
Enhancements to the milling of open pockets rated a place in the Top Ten list. SolidMill Facing has a new one-pass facing pattern and the calculation of all SolidMill FreeForm operations is faster than ever before.
Three of the enhancements to SolidTurn operations placed in the Top Ten this year: the new B-Axis Contouring cycle, all new technology for SolidTurn Threading which includes a new thread database, and the automation of lathe stock. In addition, the Cutoff cycle is completely redesigned, the Contouring cycle has more options for machining on the faces and diameters of the profile, the selection and orientation of cutting tools is enhanced, and the simulation of complex lathes is enhanced with a new station parameter in Machine Setup.
Every enhancement to SolidWire has been included in the Top Ten list. New Makino EDM technology has been added to the extensive list of EDM machine types that ESPRIT supports. EDM technology has also been significantly upgraded for Fanuc, Ona and Generic machine types. To diminish the appearance of an entrance line, new options let you automatically rotate the operation start point on profiles that have multiple cutting passes. Draft Feature Recognition is now easier to use and can automatically create lead-in positions and feature start points based on the longest segment in a profile.
The Internal/External Corners command now allows corner modifications to chain features as well as draft conic features plus offers new options that make it faster and easier to modify corners. In addition, the Gear and Cam commands have been moved from the SolidWire Gold toolbar to the Features toolbar since these features are not restricted only to wire EDM operations.
What's New in the ESPRIT KnowledgeBase
The biggest enhancement to the ESPRIT KnowledgeBase is the new KnowledgeBase Manager, which ranked a position in the Top Ten list. The KnowledgeBase Manager provides a single point of access to all the KnowledgeBase Managers which have been completely redesigned with new easier-to-use interfaces. Please note that the KnowledgeBase commands have moved to the Common Machining toolbar and the KnowledgeBase toolbar available in ESPRIT 2007 has been removed.
